About Blaze Carter

Born in Liberty City, Miami, Santonio Carter knew from a young age that he was destined for greater things. He did not let his birth determine his future and as many other true artist, he was born with music in his veins and a story to tell.

As soon as he could put words and sentences together, Santonio started rapping, and at 9 was already performing on such stages as his school “Test Rallies”, and “Say No to Drugs Events”. Putting pen to paper with spoken words, and sweet delivers to the young ladies, his uncle saw potential, gifted him with a recording machine, and various instrumentals which set the course of “Blaze Carter”. “I got my rap name Blaze as a kid when I was only 13 years old because of the hot reality what I would rhyme about”. Taking it a step further, his uncle and friends created Ghetto Gray Ent label, and released young teen Blaze Carter first LP “Blaze be the Name”.

Deeply embedded in the roots and culture of Miami, Blaze was influenced by an array of community members from pastors, to dope boyz and single parents, while musically shaped by the sounds of Trick Daddy, Jeezy, T.I and DMX among many others.

And then, life as he knew it, forever was altered when Santonio “Blaze” Carter lost his 6 years old son King Carter to senseless gun violence in Miami. “After losing King, music became my escape on every level. Growing up in my hood it’s easy to fall victim to all aspects of the streets. Instead of becoming a statistic, I turned to the mic to vent and share not only my story, but others as well who do not have a voice. I made a promise to myself to uplift the community. I try to unite through weekly free music events, visit schools from elementary to high school, they are the future, and they can stop this violence.”

Having worked with such talented stars as Uncle Luke, Trick Daddy, Betty Wright, and Zoey Dallaz among many other artist from Miami, Blaze is now concentrating on his own craft.

“I just want my music to uplift, motivate, inspire, it has never been and will never be about money, but if I can use it to help then it’s a win” Blaze Carter.
